God's Message: You Are Seen Even When the World Forgot Your Name

There's a name God called you that the world never gave you — and it changes everything about who you are

""Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I dedicated you, I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.""

Jeremiah 1:5

In John 13, there's a disciple the other writers never refer to by his own name. They call him simply "the disciple whom Jesus loved." You would think that after years of traveling with Jesus, after the miracles and the sermons, after everything — this man would want his name remembered. But when John writes, he introduces himself this way. And I wonder if that was the most precious thing he ever carried.

Maybe you know the feeling of being overlooked. Not once — but so many times it becomes a kind of background noise. The meeting where your idea was credited to someone else. The silence after you shared something vulnerable. The way your efforts seem to dissolve into someone else's highlight reel. You've started to wonder if you're just easy to forget.

God's message for you today cuts through that exhaustion: He saw you. Before you performed, before you succeeded, before you learned to smile when you wanted to scream — He knew you. And the name He gave you was not "forgotten" or "overlooked." It was "loved."

This is the heart of your identity. Not the promotion you earned or the rejection you received. Not the title on your door or the silence on the other side of it. In Christ, you are the disciple loved by the Savior. That recognition cannot be stripped away by a boardroom decision or a relationship ending or a season of invisibility. It was given, not earned.

There's a story in today's video I couldn't fit here — about how quickly we trade the quiet certainty of being God's child for the loud validation of the world's approval. If something in you resonated with that tension, sit with this for five minutes.

You don't have to perform for a Father who already knows your name. You are not invisible to the One whose opinion actually matters. And that changes everything.

Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I dedicated you, I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

A prayer

Father, I confess I've been chasing recognition that fades and competing for a visibility that never satisfies. Today I rest in the truth that You saw me first. You named me before the world could forget me. Help me live from that certainty — not from the noise of comparison or the ache of being overlooked. Teach me to find my worth in being Yours alone. In Jesus' name, Amen.
