God's Message: You Don't Have to Keep Performing

What if your exhaustion is not a problem to solve, but a door God is opening?

"Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved."

Psalm 55:22

There is a particular kind of tired that no amount of sleep fixes. It lives somewhere behind your ribs, underneath the tasks you still show up for, beneath the smile you manage in every meeting and every message. It is the tiredness of a soul that has been carrying something alone for far too long.

If that sounds familiar, I want you to hear this: God sees you right now, in exactly this place, and He is not exasperated with you. He is not waiting for you to pull yourself together. He is leaning in.

In Psalm 55:22, the writer does not perform a prayer. He does not pretend he has it handled. He simply says, Cast your burden on the LORD, and He will sustain you. Not because you earned it. Not because you finally figured things out. Because He is faithful, and you are not Him.

I think one of the quietest lies we believe is that God only speaks to the strong. That if we are tired, overwhelmed, or falling apart, we must be disqualified from hearing Him. But the opposite is true. God speaks most tenderly to the weary. He does not call us to perform our way back to His favor. He calls us to come as we are, and to receive what He offers.

Some of us have been running on empty so long we forgot that rest is not a reward. It is a command. It is proof that we trust Someone larger than ourselves to carry what we cannot. And when we finally stop performing strength, we make room for the only Strength that actually holds.

There is a story I share in today's video about someone who learned to stop fighting alone — I could not fit it here. If something about what you just read stirred, sit with this message for five minutes. You may find it was exactly what you were looking for without knowing it.

A prayer

Father, I come to You tired. I confess I have been trying to carry what only You can hold. Today I choose to stop performing and start trusting. I lay down the weight I have been holding and ask You to sustain me. Not because I have earned it, but because You are faithful. Quiet my heart enough to hear Your voice. Fill me again. In Jesus' name, Amen.
